Community Woodland Company Ltd
NWMCWC is a community company with charitable status set up to manage
Langamull and West Ardhu woodlands in the north west of the Isle of
Mull. These woodlands were purchased through the National Forest Land
Scheme from Forestry Commission Scotland in 2006 with the assistance
of the Scottish Land Fund, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, The
Robertson Trust, Hugh Fraser Foundation, significant local fundraising
and an interest free loan.
Community benefits will include the provision of affordable housing,
improved access, business opportunities and the use of the woodlands
as an education resource.

welcomes Development Manager |
The Board of North West Mull Community Woodland
Company are delighted to announce that Ian Hepburn of Calgary
has been appointed as Development Manager. Ian brings with him
skills and experience that will prove instrumental in bringing
to fruition an ambitious range of plans including housing,
woodland crofts and woodfuel supply. Ian started on Monday 1st
September and is already getting to grips with a number of the
company’s objectives.
Both this three year post and the part time
administrator are funded by the Big Lottery and Highlands and
Islands Enterprise.

Woodmizer |
|
The Woodland
Company, along with other local partners, are now proud owners
of a woodmizer mobile saw which will be very useful in adding
value to some of the timber in Langamull and West Ardhu.
Training has been carried out already with advanced training
being held in Knoydart next month for the appointed operators.
The woodmizer and a trained operator are available to hire.
